KOCH ENTERTAINMENT AND SAVOY JAZZ/DENON SIGN CANADIAN DISTRIBUTION DEAL

KOCH Entertainment, the leading distributor of pre-recorded audio and video products in Canada announces a Canadian distribution agreement with the prestigious DENON and SAVOY Jazz catalogs.

The revival of the SAVOY and DENON labels have already seen a successful launch in the United States, where bestsellers have entered the Billboard Jazz Charts within weeks of their release. The revamped labels are now under stewardship of three industry veterans: former BMG CEO Strauss Zelnick, Windham Hill executive Steve Vining and BMG executive Steve Backer.

The first releases from the DENON label will be a lifestyle-oriented series of two-CD reissue compilations called 24/7. Each collection is designed to serve as a mood-enhancing accompaniment from dawn to dusk - thus the series name. "Each set has a disc of seamless, uptempo music for morning and afternoon," Vining explains in a Billboard Magazine label spotlight, "and an almost seamless evening disc for twilight to evening."

SAVOY JAZZ's new timeless series features legendary performances by jazz pioneers like Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Erroll Garner, Jimmy Scott and many others. Transferred from the original session acetates and masters using today's most advanced digital technology, timeless boasts audio performance that matches the most expensive boxed set collections but at mid price. With background information on the life and times of each artist and easy to read introductory notes by noted jazz annotator Bill Milkowski timeless will be attractive to both the connoisseur and novice alike. Striking illustrations commissioned especially for this series from renowned artist Miguel Angel Reyes mark a distinctive and inviting look.
